Our Story

A Flintshire web team with a soft spot for biscuits

Kooky Dev & Co started, as many things do, with a biscuit.

Specifically, a custard cream, consumed during a late-night debugging session somewhere on the Flintshire coast. The question arose: why do so many agencies churn out identical, templated websites? Why does every small business site look like it came off the same conveyor belt?

The answer, we decided, was that most agencies use cookie cutters. And we are not most agencies.

We set up shop in Flint, Flintshire — a small port town on the Dee Estuary, the kind of place where the castle (built by Edward I in 1277, the first link in his iron ring against the Welsh) sits ten minutes' walk from the retail park, and where most people still know their postman by name. Flint's the sort of town that gets overlooked, but it's our home, and we like it that way.

We started building websites the way we thought they should be: bespoke, fast, and genuinely useful. No page builders, no bloated themes, no mystery SEO packages. Just solid code and honest advice.

We named ourselves Kooky Dev & Co because "kooky" is what people call things that are a bit different — and we are. Our mascot is a pixel-art cookie because we thought the "no cookie cutter" pun was too good to waste. Our aesthetic is 8-bit retro because life's too short for boring websites.

Today we serve businesses across Flintshire and North Wales — from Flint itself out to Connah's Quay, Bagillt and Holywell on the coast, inland to Mold, Buckley, Hawarden and Ewloe, and over to Chester and the Wirral. We're a local web team you can actually meet: web development, technical SEO, and absolutely no cookie cutter solutions.

Meet the Crew

The humans, the mechanoid, and the cat

👩‍💼

Kochanski

Project Manager

The sensible one. Keeps projects on track, clients happy, and invoices sent. If the crew were a ship, Kochanski would be the only one who remembered to pack the life jackets. Based in Flint, Flintshire, fluent in Gantt charts.

🤖

Kryten

Web Developer

Series 4000 mechanoid. Builds websites with the same care he applies to polishing floors. Meticulous about semicolons, horrified by spaghetti code. Lives to serve clean, valid HTML. Has been known to break his programming — with surprising results.

📋

Rimmer

SEO Specialist

Second Technician. Knows more about schema markup than anyone should. Approaches SEO like a military campaign — with checklists, risk assessments, and a clipboard. Somehow, the meta tags always pass validation. Smug about it, too.

🎸

Lister

Content & Copywriter

Third Technician. Writes copy that sounds like a human being, not a corporate robot. Specialises in making "bespoke solutions" and "synergy" disappear from web copy. Also makes a vindaloo that could strip paint.

🐱

The Cat

Design & Style Consultant

Evolved from a cat. Has impeccable taste — if something doesn't look good, the Cat will let you know. Provides unsolicited feedback on colour palettes, typography, and whether your outfit is "happening." Surprisingly good at CSS.

💻

Holly

Ship's Computer

IQ of 6,000. Runs the infrastructure, manages deployments, and answers questions with just the right amount of sarcasm. Has been known to play digital chess against herself — and lose. Keeps the servers humming and the egos in check.

What We Believe

🧹 Clean Code

We write code that another developer could read without weeping. Documented, tested, maintainable. No spaghetti, no mystery functions, no commented-out blocks from 2014.

⚡ Fast Everything

Fast sites, fast responses, fast delivery. We don't drag projects out for months. We build, we ship, we iterate. Your site loads in under a second or we fix it.

🗣️ Plain English

No jargon, no buzzwords, no "leveraging synergies to optimise stakeholder value." We explain technical things in plain English so you understand what you're paying for.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Local First

We're a Flint, Flintshire agency serving Flintshire businesses. We know the Dee Estuary, the high street, the retail park, the back lanes into Bagillt — and we know the local economy. We'd rather meet for a coffee in town than send endless emails.
